Game Dev Process & Playtesting:

Development process

The development process for this game began with tile maps and virtual joysticks. After building the scenes, and making sure the basic control of the character works, we take a lot of time building animations by setting skeletons for the sprites. Then, in our design, we have several weapons and items for the player to click to use. Therefore, we are making the pick up and change system for both weapons and other items. After making sure all those mechanisms work properly, we added a shop for players to buy items and weapons. But, since we don’t have many items, the shop seems work not so well. In the end, we add the start, end, and dead scene also with music clips to make sure they work altogether as a complete game.

Playtesting Feedback:

  • Screen size not fitted for the virtual joysticks and UI system
  • Randomized would be better for scenes also item drops
  • Monsters size should be enlarge
  • Characters’ animation should look more nature and smooth
  • There should be more levels (the game is kind of short).
  • Add more items, even characters would be better.
  • The UI system is kind of blurry.
  • Have a boss in the end would be best
  • Maybe have some storytelling (not sure whether there is a plot).
